In its Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2025, ECLAC warns that the region is going through a phase of lower dynamism following the rebound seen at the beginning of 2024. Monagas governor Ernesto Luna announced on Wednesday the signing of an agreement with the Chinese investment group China Ai, aimed at developing an ambitious agro-industrial project on lands in western Monagas. Chinese refineries posted their highest level of activity since September 2023 in June, processing 15.2 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil, up 8.5% from the same month last year.
