Guacamaya, July 4, 2025. Caracas and Bogotá are advancing joint initiatives in hydrocarbons, with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties and benefiting both peoples.
Venezuela’s Minister of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting on Thursday with Colombia’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Edwin Palma, to review the shared energy agenda and explore new areas of cooperation in hydrocarbons.
During the meeting, Rodríguez reaffirmed Caracas’ willingness to continue strengthening bilateral collaboration “for the mutual benefit of the peoples,” as she highlighted on her social media.
The Venezuelan delegation was led by Rodríguez and the President of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), Héctor Obregón, accompanied by the Vice President of Public Works and Services, Jorge Márquez; the President of Pequiven, Román Maniglia; and Venezuela’s Ambassador to Bogotá, Carlos Martínez.
The Colombian side included, besides Palma, Colombia’s Ambassador to Caracas, Milton Rengifo, and the President of the National Mining Agency, Luciano Sanín Vásquez.
This meeting is part of efforts to relaunch bilateral relations following the proposal made last March by President Nicolás Maduro to his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, to create a border zone of “shared development.” The initiative includes joint investments in agriculture, agro-industry, and tourism, with the participation of public and private sectors from both countries.
