Venezuela’s Electoral Body Delays the Nomination Process for the May 27 Elections

Guacamaya, March 26, 2025. The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced that the nomination process is being rescheduled by one week. The election for the National Assembly and the States of Venezuela had already been postponed by a month, from April 27 to May 25.

Within the nomination process, which will now take place between April 7 and 11, political parties must present their candidates and form alliances, which will later be reviewed by the National Electoral Board.

The election is already marked by uncertainty, as the CNE has not yet published a detailed schedule. The candidates for governorships, the National Assembly, or State Legislative Councils are also still unknown for most parties.
