Guacamaya, July 6, 2025. Within the framework of the “Great China-Venezuela Expo: A Splendid Future,” held in Caracas between July 4 and 6, the governments of Venezuela and China signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects. This agreement, in addition to stimulating the country’s scientific evolution, seeks to further consolidate bilateral cooperation.

Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and Chinese Ambassador to Caracas Lan Hu were responsible for signing the memorandum alongside representatives from the Chinese technology company iFlytek. The company, recognized globally for its leadership in voice recognition and artificial intelligence technologies, was among the more than 50 exhibitors present at the event.

President Nicolás Maduro highlighted that this agreement will allow Venezuela to “enter through the front door into the vanguard of artificial intelligence development,” with applications planned for key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, hydrocarbons, health, education, and telecommunications. The iFlytek company will contribute its expertise to implement advanced solutions in these areas.

In addition to the AI agreement, both countries also signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed at expanding the exchange of knowledge and technologies, as well as boosting investments in strategic areas. Additionally, China delivered a donation of supplies to Venezuela for the protection of water resources, contributing to the country’s sustainable development.

Ambassador Lan Hu emphasized the exhibition’s importance as a platform for dialogue and bilateral cooperation, while Maduro thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping and the China Development Bank for their support. The alliance between Caracas and Beijing allows Venezuela to be positioned at the forefront of these new technologies and strengthens strategic cooperation between the two countries.
