Guacamaya, November 22, 2025. International air traffic to Venezuela suffered a blow on November 22, after four airlines suspended their flights following a security alert issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration.
The cancellation of flights toward Venezuela expanded this Saturday with the decision of Iberia, whose suspension was confirmed to the EFE agency by internal sources of the company. Although the Spanish airline assured that it will evaluate when to resume its operations, up to now, it has not released an official statement about the measure.
The interruption of flights is not limited to Iberia. TAP Air Portugal, LATAM Airlines, Avianca and GOL also paralysed their routes toward Maiquetía the same day, aligning themselves with the recommendation released by the FAA on 21 November. In NOTAM A0012/25, the U.S. authority urged operators to avoid the Maiquetía Flight Information Region (FIR) due to the deterioration of security conditions and the increase in military activity in Venezuelan territory and its surroundings.
While these four airlines stopped their services, other companies maintain their programming without changes. Copa Airlines continues flying to Panama City, and the Venezuelan ones Laser, Conviasa with connections to the Caribbean, Iran and Russia maintains activities and Rutaca remain active, the same as Turkish Airlines, which sustains its connection with Istanbul.
