Guacamaya, October 7, 2025. The Government of Venezuela is currently searching for individuals allegedly involved in a plot to carry out an explosive attack on the United States Embassy in Caracas. President Nicolás Maduro confirmed during his weekly broadcast *Con Maduro+* that the incident constitutes a “terrorist plan” orchestrated by “extremist sectors of the local right.”
“We are actively pursuing and attempting to capture some of those individuals who remain within Venezuelan territory. That’s all I can disclose for now,” said the president during Monday’s televised address. He also stated that the event “was confirmed by at least two highly credible sources—one national and one international,” without offering further details.
Earlier that day, the accusation had been formally presented by Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly and lead negotiator for the government, who reported that U.S. authorities had been notified of the serious threat through three separate channels. Maduro warned that the operation may be a “false flag” intended to provoke conflict and blame the Bolivarian government.
The head of state explained that Venezuelan intelligence services had intercepted communications between those allegedly involved in the plot, amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. Maduro claimed that the U.S. government already possesses complete information regarding the names, meeting times, and conversations of those suspected of planning the attack.
The Venezuelan government also announced increased security measures around the embassy compound, which has remained closed since 2019 following the diplomatic rupture between both nations. “We have reinforced security at the diplomatic site, which our government respects and protects,” stated Jorge Rodríguez via social media.
Since August, the United States has maintained a military presence in the Caribbean, aimed at confronting alleged drug trafficking groups—most of which are reportedly based in Venezuela. In response to the Venezuelan government’s recent claims about the embassy attack plot, neither the U.S. government nor prominent opposition figures in Venezuela have issued any statements.
